Candidate options
Candidate options are configuration settings for on-demand stages that determine how long candidates have to submit their stages, and when the invitation expires. In addition, for:
- On-demand voice and video/web stages, you can specify whether you want to allow candidates to record an introduction.
- On-demand video/web stages only, you can specify whether you want to allow candidates to upload documents (such as resumes or work samples) and whether the upload is required.
- On-demand video/web stages only, you can specify whether you want to allow candidates to skip a stage by having them acknowledge that they meet predefined stage exemptions.
Candidate options settings
Candidate submission deadline
Number of hours within which candidates must complete their stage (for example, 24, 48, or 72 hours). Enter a value of "0" to allow candidates an unlimited amount of time.
By default, the countdown starts when candidates log in to their stage. However, the start time for the countdown could vary if your organization chose to move it to when:
- You requested the stage.
- Candidates reach the contact information page of their stage.
- Candidates reach the introduction page of their stage.
- Candidates reach the questions in their stage.
Recruiters can reset the countdown if candidates do not complete their stage in the allotted time.
Note: You can specify a submission deadline and expiration date together in the same stage. However, if the expiration date arrives before the submission deadline passes, then the expiration date takes precedence. Candidates will be unable to complete their stage after the expiration date occurs, even if the submission deadline has not yet expired.
When should this stage expire?
Date on which the stage expires. Once the expiration date/time has passed, you can no longer send requests to candidates, and candidates can no longer submit stages to you. If there is an expiration date for an interview stage to which a candidate is invited, they will be asked to complete their stage prior to that date.
To configure an expiration date:
- Click in the field to open the calendar chooser, where you can select a date.
- The time field defaults to 12:00 AM. If you want to enter a different time, then type a new time in the adjacent time fields. Times appear to you in the timezone set by your browser. Times appear to candidates in their local timezone.
Require candidate to record introduction? (on-demand video/web and phone only)
Determines whether candidates are required to record an introduction as part of their stage. If this box is:
- Checked (default), then candidates are required to record an introduction. If completing an on-demand video/web stage, candidates can re-record the introduction as many times as they choose.
- Unchecked, then candidates are unable to record an introduction.
Allow candidate to upload documents? (on-demand video/web only)
Determines whether candidates can attach documents to their stage (such as cover letter or resume). If this box is:
- Checked (default), then candidates can attach documents to their stage. If the adjacent Require Document box is also checked, then candidates are required to attach at least one document to their stage.
- Unchecked, then candidates are not able to attach documents to their stage.
Remind candidates if they have not submitted (on-demand only)
Determines whether candidates will receive communications reminding them to complete the stage. Reminders are sent to candidates 1 hour after the initial invitation was sent to complete an on-demand web/video stage, and 12 hours after the initial invitation was sent to complete an on-demand phone or on-demand text stage. If this box is:
- Checked (default), then candidates are sent a reminder to complete the stage. Select a Reminder Method of either Send both email and text reminder (default) or Send email only to determine which reminders are sent to candidates.
- Unchecked, then candidates will not be sent any reminders.
Allow stage exemption ( on-demand web/video only)
Note: Stage exemptions are a licensed feature and may not be available for your application. For more information about your specific application configuration, contact your system administrator.
Determines whether candidates can claim they are exempt from completing the stage. If this box is:
- Checked, then candidates can mark themselves exempt from the stage and move to the next stage. When selected, the following additional configuration options appear:
-
Confirmation: The page that gives candidates the option to mark themselves exempt from the stage. Customize the Page Title, Statement to candidate, and Button Text information candidates read and interact with when stage exemption is enabled. The information you enter in the top Button Text field appears on the button candidates select to remain in the stage, and information in the bottom Button Text field appears on the button candidates select to mark themselves exempt and skip the stage.
Note: Ensure you provide inclusive and clear requirements for your exemptions. All candidates that enter this stage will need to decide if they are eligible for the stage exemption.
- Thank You Page: The page candidates see when they are exempt from the stage. Customize the Page Title and Message to candidate information candidates will see when they are exempt.
-
- Unchecked, then exemptions are not allowed for the stage and candidates must complete it.
Note: If candidates mistakenly mark themselves as exempt from a stage, you must reset the interview to allow them to finish the stage.
