Live interviews
Live interviews are interviews you conduct between candidates and hiring managers in real-time. Interviews can be one-on-one or group panel interviews, depending on the interviewer requirements.
There are three types of live interviews:
Live video interviews
You can conduct live video interviews with candidates and hiring managers using computers or mobile devices.
Questions you create for live interviews are text questions that hiring managers can use as an interview guide while meeting with candidates. These questions appear in the interview page when you first enter the interview. They are not visible to candidates. For more information, see Live interview questions.

Live interview scheduling methods
When you schedule live interviews with candidates, you select a scheduling method that fits your interview goals. Hirevue offers two scheduling methods:
Manual scheduling
You can use Hirevue's manual scheduling function to set up interviews with interviewers and candidates at specified dates and times. Setting up interviews manually allows you to meet complex scheduling needs, such as staggered start times or panel interviews.
There is no limit to the number of people you can invite to the interview. However, you must identify the candidate and interviewers, the type of interview you want to conduct (live video, live voice, or in person) and the date/ time of the interview. Each person scheduled to participate in the interview receives a calendar invitation that includes the interview details and a link to the interview foyer.
For more information, see Manual scheduling.
Candidate self scheduling
Hirevue offers two types of candidate self-scheduling, each designed to accommodate interviewer complexity and team size. Self-scheduling allows you to create live, on-demand, or in person interviews that allow candidates and interviewers to self-schedule time slots that work for them.
-
Event Manager (one or more interviewers, complex schedules): When you create an event, you can request interviewers provide the dates and times on which they are available to participate in interviews. Candidates can then select from those available times to schedule interviews at their convenience, without recruiter intervention. Updates you make to the event take place in real time, ensuring candidates are always selecting from the most current time slots. For more information, see Events.
-
Scheduling Assistant (one interviewer): You can use Scheduling Assistant to schedule live interviews with a single interviewer and the candidate. When you select this option, you enter the interviewer and their email information. When candidates are added to this stage, HireVue ensures there is enough availability on the interviewer's calendar to accommodate the interview. If not, HireVue sends an email for them to update their calendar with their availability. Once there is enough availability, HireVue sends the candidate a request to self-schedule their interview. If Hirevue does not receive a response from the
- Interviewer, then two reminders are sent before notifying the recruiter that the interviewer did not respond to the request.
- Candidate, one reminder is sent before notifying the recruiter that the candidate did not respond to the request.
For more information, see Scheduling assistant.
