Languages
As a global application, Hirevue is required to support clients and candidates in numerous countries and languages. To meet this requirement, Hirevue offers clients the ability to define default languages, customize and translate languages used in application content, and define job-specific languages that recruiters can use when communicating with candidates.
Specifically, Hirevue uses a system of language settings and customization to display client-specific translated content in the following areas:
- Email templates and associated merge field values
- Words on the page of any browser experience
- Content of SMS messages
- Subtitles of HireVue-offered videos
Language Licensing
Hirevue uses two licensing settings, in combination with browser settings, to determine the language to display to users each time they interact with application elements:
- Default Language
- Job Language
Default Language
Default language is the language used to display content in system-generated emails and SMS text messaging when no other options supersede it.
See Language Hierarchy for the logic that HireVue uses to determine when to display content in the default language.
Job Language
When the Display Job Language licensing option is enabled, recruiters creating or editing a job can use the Language drop-down field on the Create Job page to select a job-specific language for that job. Hirevue uses the job-specific language in SMS text messages and system-generated emails sent to candidates, hiring managers, and interview participants.
When recruiters select a job language, their user experience is not affected. In other words, all on-screen text directed toward the recruiter remain in their selected language.
Recruiters may choose to set a job language when recruiting for positions:
- In another country.
- Where the candidates speak a different language.
- Where a job requirement is fluency in a different language.
